Gameplay

How do I play Gramfall?

Tap letter tiles that share the same row or column to spell a valid word. Tiles don't need to be adjacent — the order you tap them becomes the word. Once you've selected your letters, submit the word. Clearing tiles keeps your columns from filling up. If any column reaches the top, it's game over.

What counts as a valid word?

Gramfall uses a standard English dictionary. Words must be at least 2 letters long. Proper nouns, abbreviations, and profanity are not accepted. If a word you believe is valid is being rejected, feel free to contact us — we do update the word list.

How is scoring calculated?

Longer words score more points. Letter rarity also plays a role — uncommon letters like Q, Z, X, and J are worth more than common ones. Playing quickly before tiles stack up can multiply your score. Chaining multiple words in quick succession builds your momentum.

Can I select tiles in any order?

Yes, as long as all selected tiles share the same row or column. You can mix rows and columns within a single word — for example, tap a tile in row 2, then one in column 3, as long as each consecutive tile shares either a row or column with the previous tile.

What happens when a column fills up?

If any column reaches the top of the grid, the game ends immediately. Keep an eye on the tallest columns and prioritize clearing tiles from them first.

Word of the Day

What is the Word of the Day?

Each day a specific 5–8 letter target word is shown at the top of the grid. Spell it using the tiles on the board before the columns fill up to complete the daily challenge. Successfully completing it builds your streak.

How does my streak work?

Your streak increases by 1 each day you successfully complete the Word of the Day challenge. Missing a day resets your streak to zero. Your longest streak ever is saved separately so you can always see your personal best.

What breaks my streak?

Missing a day — that is, not completing the Word of the Day challenge before midnight local time — will reset your current streak. Replaying past challenges does not restore a broken streak.

Can I replay past Word of the Day challenges?

Yes! Tap the calendar icon to browse and replay any previous Word of the Day. Past replays are for practice and enjoyment — they do not count toward your current streak. Your streak only advances by completing the current day's challenge.

I missed today's Word of the Day. Can I still play it?

Once the day rolls over the challenge becomes a past replay, which you can still play from the calendar — but it will not restore your streak. To keep your streak alive, complete each day's challenge before midnight.

Game Center & Achievements

How do leaderboards work?

Gramfall submits your high scores to Apple Game Center. You can compare your scores with friends and global players from within the app or directly in the Game Center app. You must be signed in to Game Center for scores to be submitted.

How do I unlock achievements?

Achievements are awarded automatically as you hit milestones in the game — such as completing Word of the Day streaks, reaching score thresholds, and surviving for set amounts of time. Check Game Center to see which achievements are available and your progress toward each.

My Game Center score didn't submit. What should I do?

Make sure you are signed in to Game Center in your device Settings under Game Center. If you were offline when you played, scores may not have submitted. Try opening the app again while connected — Gramfall will attempt to resubmit pending scores.

Ad-Free Subscription

What does the Ad-Free subscription include?

The annual Ad-Free subscription removes all advertisements from Gramfall for the duration of your subscription. No ads will be shown and no advertising data will be collected during your sessions.

How do I restore my Ad-Free subscription?

Open the app, go to Settings, tap "Upgrade to Ad-Free", then tap "Restore Purchases". Your subscription will be restored as long as you are signed in to the same Apple ID used to purchase it.

How do I cancel my Ad-Free subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, find Gramfall, and tap Cancel Subscription. You will retain ad-free access until the end of the current billing period.

Can I get a refund?

All purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's refund policy. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

Sync & Notifications

Why are my scores not syncing across devices?

Gramfall uses iCloud to sync your gameplay data. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID on both devices, that iCloud is enabled in Settings, and that you have a network connection. Give the app a minute after launching to complete the sync.

My game progress was lost. What can I do?

Game progress is stored locally and backed up via iCloud. If you recently switched or restored a device, make sure iCloud is enabled and relaunch the app — it will attempt to restore from your iCloud backup. If data is still missing after a few minutes, contact us and we'll help investigate.

How do I enable or disable notifications?

Go to your iPhone Settings → Notifications → Gramfall to enable or disable notifications at any time. Gramfall may send a daily reminder about the Word of the Day challenge if notifications are enabled.

Advertising & Privacy

How do I manage my ad preferences?

Open the app, go to Settings, and tap "Manage Ad Preferences". You can also go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking to control app tracking at the device level. For Google ad preferences visit adssettings.google.com. For Meta ad preferences visit facebook.com/adpreferences.

How do I request deletion of my data?

Gramfall does not directly store personal data. Advertising data collected by Google AdMob or Meta Audience Network can be managed through their respective platforms. To request deletion of any data associated with your use of Gramfall, email us at [email protected] and we will assist you and forward your request to the relevant third-party services as appropriate.

Technical Issues

The app is crashing. What should I try?

First, try closing the app fully and reopening it. If the issue persists, restart your device. Make sure you are running the latest version of Gramfall from the App Store. If crashes continue, please contact us with your device model and iOS version so we can investigate.

The app feels slow or unresponsive.

Close any other apps running in the background and relaunch Gramfall. If you're on an older device and performance is consistently poor, please let us know — device-specific performance issues help us prioritize optimizations.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Please email us at [email protected] with a description of what happened, what you expected to happen, your device model, and your iOS version. Screenshots or screen recordings are very helpful.
